KMC officials, district administration and police during the surprise checking of butcher shops in the BOC area on November 3.

Kohima, November 3 (MExN): A joint team of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Police and District Administration conducted surprise checks of butcher shops in the BOC area on November 3.
The checking was conducted to check the weighing scales of the butchers following a complaint from a consumer of less weight of the meat than the amount paid for, informed KMC Chief Inspector, Kikruselie Pienyu.
During the checking, the team not only checked the electronic weighing scales but also verified the business license while also cautioning the butchers to follow cleanliness standards and to desist from cheating customers.
In this, Pienyü said that KMC had fixed rates for the various items including vegetables and meat products, but the consumers hardly come forward to lodge formal complaints with the KMC.
He also informed that the rates of different items are fixed after considering the cost effects of the market with proper consultations.
Accepting its limitations in not being able to conduct checking on a daily basis, Pienyü requested consumers should accept the rates fixed by KMC as their right and become the informers with supporting evidence so that appropriate action can be initiated against the defaulters.
Aggrieved consumers can contact KMC officials through phone number 9774644639.
