
Accused arrested, co-accused absconding

In a major breakthrough, 19 out of 24 mobile phones which went missing on two different occasions at Japfü Christian College's, Kigwema Main Boys hostel were recovered and handed back to the students in the presence of Khuzama Police, college faculty and village authority here today.
In what can be termed as a shocking incident, mobile phones of 10 students at the Main Boys Hostel reportedly first went missing on September 22 evening around 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm when the boarders were attending an evening service, College authority here told The Morung Express.
While swift actions were initiated to nab the accused, the Khuzama Police, on information, subsequently registered a case on the same date. Unfortunately, the second incident was reported again on October 30 and separate complaints were lodged accordingly.
Through the help of police, locals and College authority, efforts were made to identify and trace the culprit through CCTV footages and keen investigation. In this regard, the accused wh is reportedly a day-scholar at the college and lives in a rented place, was nabbed in Kipfüzha sector.
On interrogation, the accused admitted that the mobile phones had been sold to an accomplice residing at Pimla Village, Dimapur. On prompt action, 14 mobile phones were recovered at the residence of the co-accused. 6 mobile phones which had already been sold to people in the vicinity of the village had been recovered with the help to the village council members. 5 are yet to be recovered.
While the main accused on arrest has been remanded to police custody, the co-accused is reportedly absconding. However, his vehicle has been seized by the police from Dimapur.
