Kohima, May 13 (MExN): In a move aimed at strengthening teacher education and academic collaboration in Nagaland, Kohima College and the State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) on May 13 to promote joint academic and professional development initiatives.
The agreement was signed by SCTE Principal Dr Elizabeth Walling and Principal Kohima College Dr Vitsosie Vupru, on behalf of their respective institutions.
According to a press release from Kohima College, the collaboration seeks to foster multidisciplinary academic engagement in line with the University Grants Commission guidelines and the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020.
A key focus of the agreement is the introduction of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), which will offer a joint B.A. B.Ed. (Secondary) degree programme alongside the existing B.A. and B.Ed. courses.
The MoC also provides for the sharing of academic infrastructure, instructional facilities, and human resources to support curriculum planning, research activities, and the organisation of seminars, workshops, and training programmes.
Both institutions have further agreed to share governance practices, academic resources, including library materials and research publications, and contribute towards broader educational and social development.
The collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality and reach of teacher education in the state through institutional partnership and a shared academic vision, the release added.
