Kohima, October 7 (MExN): The Kohima College Sports Meet 2024, themed “Explore, Compete, Conquer,” began with an opening ceremony featuring Lanusenla Longkumer, CEO of the Kohima Municipal Council, as the special guest.
The event started with an invocation by Dr. Pricilla Ezung, Associate Professor, followed by a salutation from Associate Professor Shri Ketholelie Terhüja, who highlighted the importance of preserving cultural identity through indigenous games, such as Naga wrestling.
In her keynote address, Longkumer inspired the students to embrace exploration as a path to personal growth, emphasizing that life is a journey marked by competition. She encouraged students to develop essential skills and pursue their passions with determination. Highlighting the importance of physical, mental, and emotional fitness, she urged students to set ambitious goals, both in academics and sports, as they reach for new heights.
The program included an oath-taking ceremony, concluding with a benediction. Dr. M. Libanthung Ngullie, former principal of Kohima College, further underscored the event’s focus on indigenous sports by presenting a cash prize. Additionally, Longkumer contributed funds to support the promotion of indigenous sports.
