Kohima DC reviews Census 2027 operations in Viswema, Jakhama

KOHIMA, JULY 21 (MExN): Kohima Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer B Henok Buchem undertook a field visit to Viswema and Jakhama on July 20 to review the ongoing House Listing and Housing Census (Phase I) under the Census of India 2027.

Accompanied by SDO (C) Jakhama Vineikho Tetso and EAC (HQ) Kohima Dr Riku Khutso, the DC inspected census operations in the two villages and reviewed the progress of the house listing and housing census exercise, according to a DIPR report.

The visit formed part of a district-wide tour covering all Census Charge Areas under Kohima district to monitor the quality and accuracy of data collection and strengthen coordination among census officials.

During separate interactions at Viswema and Jakhama, the officials met village authorities and other stakeholders and sought their cooperation with census personnel to facilitate accurate and inclusive data collection.

Buchem also acknowledged the cooperation extended by the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) to the District Administration on various occasions.

The programmes in the two villages were attended by Village Council members, Gaon Buras (GBs) and representatives of women’s organisations. The DC also congratulated the newly elected members of the Viswema and Jakhama Village Councils.

Later, Buchem visited the Sub-Divisional Office, Jakhama, where he interacted with officers and staff and reviewed the functioning of the office.
