Dimapur, May 25 (MExN): The Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) held an emergency consultative meeting in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha bye-election at Congress Bhavan in Kohima on May 23.
A press release from Kevi Vizo, President, KDCC stated that the meeting attended by all frontal organizations, district youth, district NSUI and District Mahila and presidents of the seven Assembly Constituency Congress Committee and district Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) members. After deliberation, the meeting in compliance with the decision of the NPCC resolved to support the ‘secular’ party candidate, C Apok Jamir.
Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) at an emergency meeting attended by the five constituency presidents and general secretaries of ACCC and DMCC, DYCC, AMCC, AYCC and Seva-dal along with Jonathan, General Secretary, NPCC and Lima, Vice president, NCYC on May 24 also extended support Apok Jamir, a press release from Tekhepfiilhi Mero, General Secretary, DCC stated.
The Phek District Congress Committee in a press statement also stated that it has decided to uphold the resolution of the Extended Executive Committee meeting held with all frontal Chiefs and DCC Presidents of the State on May 15 in Dimapur. PDCC welcomed NPCC President’s clarion call during the election campaign on May 21 at Pfütsero, Phek, to support the principles of secularism and liberal democracy to defeat communalism in greater interest of the state and the nation as a whole,In the light of the indication of strife within Congress, reported in some local media, since the NPF has assured NPCC that they have no more relation with NEDA and NDA, the PDCC requests the AICC i/c Nagaland to extend support to NPCC instead of triggering rift at this crucial juncture, the release reaffirmed.
