Awardees with Dr Pritpal Kaur and other officials at the Kohima District Teachers’ Award Ceremony 2026.
Kohima, September 3 (MExN): The Office of the District Education Officer (DEO), Kohima, on Thursday organised the Kohima District Teachers’ Award Ceremony 2026 at the Capital Convention Centre, New Secretariat, Kohima to recognise exemplary educators for their dedication and outstanding service to school education.
Dr Pritpal Kaur, IPS, DIGP (CID), Police Headquarters, Kohima, attended the programme as the special guest and lauded the selfless contributions of teachers in mentoring youth, instilling discipline and building the foundation of society.
The programme was compered by Neisalhoukhono of GHS Phezoucha and commenced with an invocation led by Imtisangla, Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Kohima.
District Education Officer, Kohima, Emilo Patton delivered the welcome address and extended greetings to the attendees and award recipients.
Special songs were presented by students of Regimental School, 4th NAP, Thizama, and Rangbey Khoubve of GHS Bayavü.
An "Ode to Teachers" was delivered by Tongchingsangla of GHS Chandmari, while the Honouring of Teachers segment was conducted by St Luke School.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Kohima District Teachers’ Award 2026 to four educators.
The awardees were Dr Kikruneinuo Kuotsu, Graduate Teacher (GT), GHS Chandmari; Khriengusano Peseyie, Assistant Teacher (Tenyidie), Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma; Akali Aye, Headmistress, Regimental School, 4th NAP, Thizama; and Thejazelie Tase, Graduate Teacher (GT), GHS Nerhema Model.
Speaking on behalf of the award recipients, Akali Aye expressed gratitude to the Education Department and school communities for the recognition and support extended throughout their teaching careers.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Visasielie Suhu, SDEO, Chiephobozou, followed by light refreshments for guests and participants.
