Kohima, July 16 (MExN): The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of July 2019 was held under the new chairmanship of Kohima DPDB Chairman & Advisor for Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire at DPDB Conference Hall on July 15.
Addressing the members, a DIPR report stated that the Chairman reiterated on sharing the annual activity of Kohima DPDB Village Adoption Committee programme to other districts DPDB by visiting them, and said that he would discuss with other districts DPDB Chairman in this regard. He said that under the VAC programme, the activities undertaken in different colonies, wards and villages were of beneficial programme to the society, which he felt that the other DPDB may also like to take up in their districts. Dr. Nicky also said that while sharing the VAC programme with other districts, their activities, which the district was not aware of can, also, be taken up in future and further asked the members to be prepared to visit other districts as and when required.
The Chairman also informed that the State Government has allotted an extra amount of Rs. 5 lakhs to all DPDBs, for which he would take up with the Government for proper direction and timely implementation of DPDB’s programme especially the VAC programme.
The house also recommended the proposed five societies for registration as verified by the Verification Committee and decided to forward it to the Government for further necessary action.
In regard to opening of Koinonia Baptist School at Keziekie, Kohima, the house deliberated on the matter and decided to conduct site verification to find out the feasibility of opening the school at the area keeping in line with the congestion of traffic issue in town areas. In the meeting, President of Kohima Village Student Union, Kikrukhrielie Khezhie gave a PowerPoint presentation on "Save Dzüvürù" under Clean Kohima. In his presentation, he shared the action plan of KVSU to save ‘Dzüvürü River’ in three phases with clean-up and awareness, re-enforcement of river banks and beautification of the river and further sought suggestions and helping hand from the members for successful implementation of the project.
