Kohima District RNTCP holds TB Forum meeting

Kohima, July 16 (MExN): Kohima District RNTCP held its District TB Forum meeting at the DC Office Chamber at the DC Office chamber on July 16. Gregory Thejawelie, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the forum gave the welcome address followed by Review of the last meeting minutes by Dr Asunu Thong, Member Secretary and DTO, Kohima.


Temjenochetla, State PPM Coordinator, presented the objectives of the forum - to involve policy makers and stakeholders for effective TB service delivery, improve awareness, reduce stigma and discrimination, to supplement and complement government initiatives to enforce TB patient –friendly law, policy and programs and to improve treatment literacy and adherence among TB patients.


Zhosulu, TB Health visitor, shared her experiences in the field. This was followed by an open discussion amongst the members wherein it was resolved to increase sensitization and awareness about TB to the community at large through various social mediums. This will also help in reducing stigma and myths surrounding Tuberculosis disease. Cured TB patients shared their testimonials.


Other Officials present were Kovi Meyase, Co Chairperson & Administrator, KMC along with his Chief Inspector, Dr Hoito Chishi Dy. CMO, Dr Rupert Peseyie, Dr Mezhuno Angami, member representatives from Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Alliance India, KNP+, DAPCU, Legal Consultant (DHFW) and staffs of Kohima District RNTCP. This was stated in a press release issued by Dr Asunu Thong, District TB Officer & Member Secretary.
