The one-day Tournament 2024 of Kohima district Government High School (GHS) & Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) was held at D Khel Ground Kohima on March 8. The tournament was organised by District Education Office (DEO), Kohima. About 180 athletes from 16 GHS & GHSS participated in the tournament.
All the winners will represent the district in the upcoming inter- district GHSS & GHS tournament on March 14 & 15 at Kohima.
Emilo Patton, District Education Officer (DEO) Kohima said education is a process of learning and lessons can be learned from all aspects of life and she added that games and sports have become an integral part in students life.
She told the students that the value of sports cannot be overlooked stating that it helps in the overall growth and development of students' lives.
Patton said having a sports tournament is an important event in one’s life as it brings healthy recreation while it echoes the learning process of the students while she also further expounded the various benefits and virtues of sports.
She also told the participants to know the value of sports and exhibit their talents in order to be successful in their lives in the field of sports.
The programme was led by Patricia Vizo, ADEO, Kohima and later she handed over the awards to the winners.
Earlier, invocation prayer was pronounced by Thepfusetuo, PET, GHS Rusoma while oath taking was administered by Neilazetuo PET, Dr N Kire, GHSS Kohima.
