Kohima Forest Division bids farewell to retiring staff

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Kohima Forest Division organised a farewell programme on October 1 where eight staff under Kohima Range and Chiephobozou Range were felicitated for their service. 

Addressing the outgoing staff, Rajkumar M, IFS, DFO Kohima congratulated and thanked them for successful completion of their service to the department. He said that retirement is not something that one has to feel sad about; rather he reminded that they are starting the second innings of their life. The DFO wished them a healthy retirement life and also assured them of every possible assistance from the Kohima Forest Division. 

Pezaneinuo Chielie, Range Officer, Kohima Range exhorted the efforts and contribution of the outgoing staff towards the department. She wished them the best as they start a new chapter in their lives and wished success as they venture out to achieve new things in their lives. The programme was attended by the recently retired staff and those still in service under Kohima Forest Division.

Following the farewell programme, a brief session on financial education was organized targeting both the retired staff and those in service. The DFO, Kohima, in his opening remarks, said that investment is important irrespective of how much a person earns in life. He stressed on the importance of setting a financial goal by investing at the early stage. The DFO also said that there are many investment plans offered by the financial institutions. He therefore urged the participants to choose the plans and invest their finances wisely. The DFO advised the participants to consider the session as the base of their financial plans. 

Chenio Lotha, National Centre for Financial Education, speaking as the resource person, explained about the different types of investment plans, term life Insurance and retirement plans. He also highlighted on various centrally sponsored schemes which one can avail. The resource person meanwhile cautioned on fraudulent investment plans offering handsome returns and how customers fall prey to such plans. 

Meanwhile, the session on finance management was attended by the recently retired staff and those still in service under Kohima Forest Division, DMU Support Staff, NFMP (JICA), and special invitees working in different sections under the Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
