G-20 presidency activity on environmental awareness was held at t Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama on February 24.

Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The NCC (Senior Wing) of St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama from 1 NL Girls’ BN NCC-Kohima under the aegis of NCC Group-Kohima organised G-20 presidency activity on environmental awareness within the college campus on February 24.
Kezhodeho Tetso, Chairman, Jakhama Town was the special guest while Keviprasa Rolnu, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, SJC (A), Jakhama was the resource person, stated a press release.
Kezhodeho spoke on the importance of G-20 Presidency and the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’(One Earth, One Family, One Future). Keviprasa delivered a lecture on environmental conservation which he began with the aim of G-20 Presidency i.e. economic change, sustainable development and saving the environment from further harm. Preservation of environment as a collective effort, encouragement of afforestation, use of eco-friendly bags and of own water bottles, proper waste management, and conservation & preservation of biodiversity.
He explained on the effects of human activities on environment resulting in disasters, diseases, extinction of animals, affecting food chain, vegetation & habitation of living organisms. He urged the cadets to create awareness and practice the 3 Rs-Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
He left the cadets to ponder on the maxim: “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children”.
Pudeshil Tetso, Chairman, Zhodi Colony Council, Mesuhe Natso, Treasurer, Zhodi Colony Council and 24 cadets attended the programme.
