The Kohima Japukongtsur Telongjem (KJT) celebrated its Silver Jubilee at Molu Ki on September 28.

Speaking on the occasion as the main speaker, Dr. Anungla Aier Retd Director, Department of Higher Education emphasised on the need for social transformation of the society. Highlighting on the status of Ao women, she said that achievements made in the field of academic, professional and private sectors were all attained through self effort.

Dr. Aier opined that as culture is never constant and is ever changing, therefore we need to focus on progressing with time and not remain under the influence of the past.

She pointed out that unless there is equal distribution of power between men and women, the society cannot advance forward.

“Only when the wisdom and experience of men and women converge together, then there will be a balanced development in the society,” she said.

Questioning that there is no platform for Naga women to express their voice, Dr. Aier observed that the role of Naga women cannot be established nowhere starting from the student level to the political level. She regretted that the society was at a loss as women were not given equal participation.

She called upon the 'men folk' to deeply reflect on giving due platform to women, where they can have a voice.
Minister of Higher and Technical Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along in his message delivered through his Personal Secretary, congratulated the Union on the commemoration of the Silver jubilee celebration.

Expressing that the society is at a rapid pace of change and transformation, he challenged the 'womenfolk' to introspect if they are working at par with the progressive society. He further wished the KJT to rededicate themselves in all walks of life, join hands together and in unity prepare for the 50 Years Jubilee.

Alinokchala released the Jubilee souvenir. The celebration also witnessed greetings by Chubasangla President, KWT and Litem Imchen President KJST, exhortations by C. Bendangla Aier and Tali Longkumer.
