Kohima kids plant trees to protect environment

Our Correspondent Kohima | June 5   Kids in the age group of 2 and half to four years in the state capital Kohima today joined tree plantation drive to mark the World Environment Day.   These 22 kids belonging to Cross Kids Centre (Pre-School) under the aegis of Cross Wonder Church, Chandmari, Kohima planted seven trees each in the premises of Kohima Old Age Home, Meriema,   Cross Wonder Church, senior pastor, Rev. Ketou Theiinuo told the media persons that 22 kids planted seven trees each and hoped that it would bring huge impact towards environment conservation.   He said that realization has come to schools and everyone and as a Church that God creation is beautiful and all have to put head together to preserve the nature and also encourage kids to be part of this crusade.   He said it is important to connect the individual with nature from early age, so in future when they grown up they continue to keep the spirit of preserving trees and stay connected to the cause of environment conservation.   Rev. Theünuo said every year the institution use to take them out to nature “but we never taught them how to plant and preserve trees.”   In this regard, he said, a plantation drive has been initiated with the slogan “I am with nature” wherein the kids planted trees with the help of teachers and helpers.
