Total lockdown in Kohima district is likely to be extended for another week. However, the decision on extension of total lockdown has been discussed but is yet to be finalized. ADC Kohima Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa informed that “it was discussed and decided in today’s meeting but has not been finalized.”
The decision will be notified on July 30, she added.
In the light of total lockdown likely to be extended in the state capital, Neibulie Kiewhuo, President of the Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) meanwhile told The Morung Express that “the District Task Force (DTF) Kohima during the meeting today has agreed to give a proposal for approval to the High Powered Committee (HPC) to extend lockdown in Kohima municipal area for another week.”
The AKMWP who was also part of the meeting said that a copy of the proposal is yet to be made available.
Meanwhile with regard to the ongoing total lockdown, the association said that the day-5 of the total lockdown was “peaceful and continued complete compliance to the total lockdown. No incidents of disturbances or untoward incidents were reported from any of the wards.”
“In the midst of vigorous contact tracing and testing, made possible due to the adherence to total lockdown, more and more cases of COVID-19 outside the QCs are being detected and reports of COVID-19 hospitals being saturated are cropping up in social media,” it further stated.
The AKMWP then urged the citizens not to panic but display cooperative attitude and extend all possible assistance to patients and frontline warriors and reiterated upon precautionary measures.
