KOHIMA, October 31 (NEPS): Kohima Lotha Tokhu Football Tournament kicked off here at IG Stadium on Tuesday. Altogether 16 teams from various colonies from Kohima areas are playing in this 4th Edition of Kohima Lotha Football Tournament and the final will be played on November 4.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Hachio Patton, Sr PS to Home Minister Y Patton, lauded the organizing committee for taking pain in organizing the tournament and suggested that young Lothas should be roped in the tournaments in the future.
The Chief Guest said it would be good if they, at least, give 50% participation to the young Lothas to take part in their tournament from next year onward. “We have many upcoming young footballers and such tournament will surely showcase their talents in football, besides it will give encouragement to other youngsters,” he added.
Patton also stressed the importance of introducing their Lotha traditional cultural competitions during the Kohima Lotha Tokhu Football Tournament as such items would not only help in disseminating their cultural and traditional values to younger generations but also preserving their rich traditions.
Thunglamo Ovung, a representative of Kohima Lotha Hoho also spoke on the occasion which was chaired by Myingthungo Mozhui, Convenor, Organizing Committee.
