KOHIMA MAO MARKET FIRE: NSDMA provides Rs 30 lakh relief

Kohima, March 1 (MExN): A relief fund was distributed to the fire victims and vendors of Mao Market and NN Market which were completely razed down on February 27. As an immediate relief fund, a sum of Rs 20 lakh was given by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio and Rs 30 lakh by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), stated an update received here. 

A total of 20 families and 55 persons were affected in the residential areas of Upper Chandmari, Porterlane, and Dzüvüru colony. 

Accordingly, relief funds were handed to the victims as per the number of members of the household. In commercial areas, a total of 92 shops/vendors at Mao Market and 61 at NN Market were affected and a relief fund was handed to the vendors/shop owners who were affected in the fire incident.

A relief fund was distributed under the Damaged Assessment Committee headed by ADC Kohima, Rhosietho Ngouri as Chairman and SDO (C) Sadar, Asst. Manager NSDMA (Nodal Officer for Kohima District), SDPO, South Police Station Kohima, OC, Fire & Emergency Services South Station Kohima, Chairman, T Khel, and Chairman, Mao Market Committee as members.
