Kohima Municipal Council issues directives on cleanliness, trade license

Kohima, November 15 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed all the Panchayats/Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the general public to keep their respective wards/surroundings and shops clean during the festive season.  

As per the annual activities, KMC will conduct surprise inspection in all wards under the KMC jurisdiction for the Cleanest Ward Awards 2017, informed a press release from KMC Administrator, Kethosituo Sekhose.  

In pursuance with the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima's direction, the KMC also informed all the general public to remove loose earth and building materials on the roadside or nearby their residence on or before November 20.  

“Any individual/party dumping loose earth/building materials within the jurisdiction of KMC beyond expiry date strict action will be taken as per the provisions of the law and materials shall be seized,” the release warned.  

The KMC further notified all traders/business establishments and institutes within the jurisdiction of KMC that KMC will conduct a surprise check/inspection at the earliest. Therefore, whosoever are yet to renew/avail trade license have been given the last opportunity till November 30, failing which, stringent action/penalty will be imposed against the defaulters as per the appropriate section of the Municipal Act, 2001, it added.  

Meanwhile, in pursuance with the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima order dated November 2, all the government agencies, business groups, and entrepreneurs were informed that use of plastic carry bags, plates, cups etc of all micron size is banned during the Hornbill Festival.  

Therefore, all concerned have been directed to make alternative arrangement for use of bio-degradable materials and paper bags (thonga), which are also available with the KCCI.
