Neposo Thelüo, IAS, President, Church Council, Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima, who was speaking as the special guest said that the attainment of 25 years can be considered a long period and as such was one third of a person’s life. He called to retrospect whether enough has been done to enshrine the motto, ‘strive for excellence.’
Noting that the school has been bearing fruits through the achievement of the past students by producing many luminaries till date, the speaker called to move forward. “If necessary to make changes for the improvement of the school and to enable children to receive value based education,” her stated.
As a school of the church and as believers, he asserted that God is not only concerned in our spiritual matters but in our earthly accomplishments which include the best utilisation of our talents and gifts, our everyday relationships etc. Calling to work towards excellence in all areas of our life, he added that when we use our gifts and talents that God has given us, it demonstrates our great deed to our done by God, shows our love in serving them in the best way possible. And therefore pursuing excellence causes us to be more excellent like God.

Asserting that learning is a continuous process and does not have an ending, the speaker told both teachers and students present that one has to keep learning to keep our position intact and this should come out of one’s own interest. He said, “Self learning and curiosity as a child and for everyone open various opportunities, a questioning mind is always a good mind and clears doubts at the same time.”
Stating that building a strong foundation is crucial during the student years, he asked the students to invest and work hard in their academics when their parents are not only raising them but sending them for education along with teachers who are always striving to give them value education.

While Intellectual education influences the head and is equally important for life, value based education was equally important as it influences the heart.
For the school, he suggested that as a church run school, moral education should also be another focus. Morally corrupt children and youths will create liabilities for the society but morally educated people can do far better than a well educated person.
