Kohima, April 16 (MExN): Well wishers today joined members of the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home on the occasion of the 41st “Kohima Orphanage Day” at Seithogei bypass. A function was organised in commemoration of the day where David Yashü, Pastor CRMC Peraciezie, Kohima invoked the blessings for the programme.
Bringing their messages of how they had seen Late Mother Zaputuo in their dreams, the Children, of whom some have never seen their parents sang in remembrance of her and their hopes of seeing their own parents. The sadness and longing to have their own parents and their trust in God as their parent and provider echoed through the songs they presented. Rotarian, Kezhokhotuo Savi speaking on the occasion emphasized on the duty of Christians in looking to the needs of Orphans. He further stressed on the need for both the government and the NGOs to introduce vocational trainings for the children of the Home.
Expressing her gratitude to the well wishers for joining them, Neibanuo, Home Mother of the Orphanage said, “Today is a very special day for us because on this day the 80 children of the home leave away all their sorrows and celebrate their joy.” Stating how it would have been impossible to run the Home without support from well wishers, she expressed her gratitude to them. There are currently 80 children in the home between the age group of 1 to 29 years. The Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home runs on donations received by well wishers and one can always visit the Home which is about 4-5kms from the heart of Kohima and listen to the stories of the wonderful woman who has changed the life of many children. Her daughter has taken on the reins of her late mother by sacrificing the needs of her own family to ensure that these children have a better future.
