Kohima, February 15: In view of the proposed visit of Her Royal Highness, the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand to Nagaland in connection with Angami Sekrenyi 2014, a coordination meeting took place here today at Zonal Council Hall.
Chairing the meeting, parliamentary secretary for justice & law, land revenue & labour and employment Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire requested each and every individuals present in the meeting to extend their cooperation and helping hand towards the necessary preparation for the success of the proposed visit of the former to the state capital. Dr. Kire said that apart from gracing Sekrenyi festival at Kisama on February 25 being organized by Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO), the Princess of Thailand would also visit Khonoma, 2nd World War Cemetery and Cathedral. He also looks forward active cooperation from one and all towards necessary arrangement particularly social work to be organized next week.
Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) chairperson Elizabeth Ngully highlighted the latest status of garbage disposal wherein the Kohima city faced problem for almost two week. Angami Public Organization (APO) president Neingunyu Sekhose called upon the gathering to work together to make the Kohima city neat and clean and live happily. Sekhose also invited one and all to the celebration of Sekrenyi, a premier festival of the Angami Nagas which is being hosted by SAPO this year in commemoration of the 50 years of the statehood of Nagaland.
Kohima SDPO and DEF PRO Shouka Kakheto also brought notice to the meeting regarding dumping of soil on the road side thereby causing traffic congestion. He voiced out that it should be addressed accordingly.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Kohima Municipal Council, Angami Public Organization, Angami Students’ Union, Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK), Angami Youth Organization, Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union, Nagaland Class I Contractors & Supplies Union, Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Wards chairmen and secretaries, SP, SDPO, fire & emergency services etc.
