Kohima RTA deliberates on shifting of regional taxi stations

Kohima, September 30 (MExN): The meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kohima was held at DC’s conference hall, Kohima on September 29. Chairing the meeting, DC Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS said the meeting was held to discuss matters about shifting of regional taxi stations, stated a DIPR report.

New Routes 
During the meeting, it was decided to add the following new routes: local taxi route Rs 80 (Base rate) + Rs 42 per km; Rs 160 for full hire and Rs 40 per head from Phoolbari to ISBT; High School Junction to Phoolbari Rs 150 for full hire and Rs 40 per head; High School Junction to ISBT- Rs 280 for full hire and Rs 70 per head; BOC to ISBT Rs 160 for full hire and Rs 40 per head; two bus stops for two NST buses and three Smart City buses plying to ISBT from Phoolbari junction, the rate has been fixed as Rs 30 per head for Smart city bus and Rs 20 per head for NST bus. 

Parking
Regional taxi stand at ISBT, Kohima, and KMC tata parking area shall continue to function from the same locations as stated till such time an alternate arrangement is made. Temporary arrangement for Eastern Bound Regional Taxis: All Eastern Bound Regional taxis (Phek, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Meluri, and Pfutsero) plying via Viswema Road shall be parked at Reserve Phesama Area as a temporary arrangement.

Taxis ticket counter 
Regarding the centralisation of the regional taxis ticket counter, the members deliberated and decided that ANTA, Kohima Unit will have to approach the office of the Regional Transport Officer, Kohima for the issue of the License Permit. Fresh licenses have to be applied through Regional Transport Office, Kohima for action and approval of the Regional Transport Authority, Kohima.

Waste management 
On waste management, it was decided that NST would provide dust bins at ISBT and ANTA would be directed to take care of waste management and at all the other parking points. KMC will collect those wastes from locations till an alternate arrangement is made. Regional taxis at ISBT and KMC tata parking will function from the same location. It also asked the ANTA President to appoint a temporary caretaker at ISBT until permanent employees from NST take over.

New parking arrangement 
During the meeting, a Core Committee to check the adherence of the new parking arrangement for Regional taxis in Kohima was constituted comprising of the following 10 members: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima HQ - Convenor; Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Kohima Sadar- member; Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Kohima HQ- Member, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic). Kohima- Member; Motor Vehicle Officer, Kohima- Member; President, ANTA, Kohima Unit- member; President, KVYO- Member
