KOHIMA: Trinity School rewards HSLC Topper Thorie with Rs 1 lakh

High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2021 top 1 position holder Keneino Thorie was awarded with Rs 1 lakh by Trinity School, Kohima on July 28. 

Thorie, a student of Trinity School, Kohima, secured 98.50% in HSLC exam this year. The school handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Keneino Thorie during a felicitation programme held at the school auditorium.

A cash award of Rs 25,000 (Mayangnokcha Award for Academic Excellence) as overall topper and Rs 5000 (MAT-YRSD Award sponsored by Youth Resources & Sports Department) for subject topper in social science, have also been handed over to her.

Mentionably, 35 students from this school came successful in this 2021 HSLC exam, conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education. The school also honoured other four from this school who secured above 80 percent in HSLC exam. It included Onütsolü Tünyi (92.66%), Mantosh Kumar Dubey (88.16 %), Chetcala Thapa (87%) and Md. Ezaz (84.66%).

Later, the school announced onetime concession of Rs 100 for all the students of Trinity School for a month in honour of the special achievement of Keneino Thorie. Gift has also been extended to the parents of Keneino Thorie, all the teachers, school staff  and all HSLC successful students from this school.

“Frankly, being the Top 1 in the HSLC exam was very unexpected and it is something I would never have imagined in my life but all I can say is consistent, handwork, determination and perseverance have helped me to achieve this and most importantly placing God above everything else and dedicating myself to Him,” said Keneino Thorie while sharing her journey to success.

“I feel blessed and honoured to uplift the name of Trinity School,” she added.

She stated that 2020 was an extremely unprecedented year and the pandemic has been hard for the students “yet teachers have put their heart and soul in teaching us.”

Thanking all the teachers for their efforts, she maintained that the conduct of regular tests and exams were so helpful and facilitated better preparation for students for the board exams.

She also acknowledged parents for their endless love and support and also conveyed sincere appreciation to Kevin Solo for always believing in her and encouragement.

Further, Thorie challenged the fellow students to stay humble and gear up to face new challenges ahead.

Kevin Solo, Administrator, Trinity School Kohima said that the excellent achievement of Keneino Thorie will be treasured for a long time to come. Let us be positive and move forward, Solo said and urged upon the students to dream bigger and keep the good name of Trinity School flying higher and higher.

Earlier, Trinity School headmaster Mathew Tsathong shared greetings while Onütsolü Tünyi gave farewell speech. Mhaphruonuo Rutsa presented a special number while Kuolhoulie Thorie, father of Keneino Thorie exhorted the gathering. The programme was chaired by Trinity School, headmistress, Susan.
