Konyak bodies condemn Tizit killing

MON, SEPT 28 (MExN): Konyak Union, Konyak Students Union, Mon have condemned the killing of one person identified as Sola, GREF personnel on September 27 at around 5:00 am near the Forest Check Gate, Namsa, Tizit, reportedly by cadres of the NSCN (IM). 

The two organizations pointed out that as a ‘major legitimate Naga tribe’, they would not remain s silent spectator and will neither be placated by repeated ‘apologies’ in the media. “Since many cases are still pending between the Konyaks and NSCN (IM), it will be in the fitness of things to stop killing of innocent people in Konyak soil”, it was stated.

It has appealed to the NSCN (IM) authority not to resort to such indiscriminate killing of innocent people and immediately book the culprit and openly declare the nature of punishment being awarded to the culprit. 

It also urged the government to look into the matter as such acts if continued would hamper the ongoing peace process, development activities of the State and aberration of basic human rights.

“The Konyaks share the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family and convey heartfelt condolence and pray for the departed soul to rest in peace and reaffirm the faith in God that He will deliver justice”.

In another release TB Chiba Konyak, Assistant General Secretary, KSU, Mon conveyed appreciation to 20 AR Mon for their cooperation in mainstreaming the anti-social activities (drug and alcohol related) in the district and for the support given to Shansham Organization for running the Drug Rehabilitation Center.

Meanwhile, the Tizit Area Students Union (TASU) on behalf of Tizit Area expressed contempt at the “inhuman act of NSCN (IM) for killing our laborer.” The TASU, in a statement issued by Wangdun, President and S Kano, General Secretary, stated that “in the midst of Naga cry for peace and solution we strongly condemn this kind of act and we the public in general demand wide publicity of reasons behind this killing and the culprits to face punishment as per the laid law”.
