KPA fund probe: ANCSU questions silence of Govt

Demands committee report before June 20

Kohima, June 14 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) on Monday pulled up the State government for its silence and delay in bringing out the committee report on the AICTE-NEQIP Fund utilization issue at Khelhoshe Polytechnic (KPA), Atoizu.

It may be mentioned that the ANCSU had earlier taken up a digital protest in October 2020 demanding the setting up of an enquiry commission to probe into the fund utilization at KPA.

In its intimation letter to the State Chief Secretary on June 14, the Union reminded the government that after its continued digital protests, on October 17, 2020, an enquiry committee was set up to probe into the fund utilization at KPA under AICTE-NEQIP with a time period of 3 months.

It mentioned that, as solicited, the Union had cooperated with the government even after expiry of the stipulated time. However, it stated that its cooperation had ‘gone for a toss’ as the State government is silent on the Enquiry Committee’s report and action taken till date.

While acknowledging the ‘massive medical trauma’ being faced by the State, ANCSU also said that the State government willfully neglecting to deliver justice for the student community is “no less than assassination of students’ rights.”

‘Assurance after assurance’ has become the trademark of the government; the ANCSU stated and asserted that it “can no longer allow such routine to continue.”

The delay in bringing out the committee report only indicates the inefficiency of the committee or the intention of the state government to rescue those involved in the matter, it further stated.

In this regard, the ANCSU has demanded for the committee report to be brought out before June 20, 2021. In case of failure to furnish the report by the stipulated time, the ANCSU cautioned that it will resort to ‘intensified and indefinite digital protest’ until justice is delivered.
