KSNA Dimapur coordinator gets award

Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): RK Nair, coordinator of Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy (KSNA) Dimapur Chapter and an active functionary of Kerala Samajam Dimapur has been awarded with the prestigious Pravasi Kalashree Award by the Kerala government for his contributions in the promotion of Kerala art and culture in northeast, especially in Nagaland.

The award was announced by Soorya Krishnamurthy, Chairman of Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy yesterday during a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.  The award consists of a citation, certificate and Rs.15,000.  It will be presented to RK Nair on the occasion of World Drama Day on March 27 by the chief minister of Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram.

It is for the first-time that such an award is given to anybody in the northeast region by the government of Kerala. A businessman by profession, RK Nair has been a prominent personality in the cultural and social circles of Dimapur for many years. He was instrumental in the revival of Kerala Samajam Dimapur and played a key role in the formation of KSNA Dimapur Chapter. He is married to Sindhu R. Nair and has two children, Parvathy and Rahul.
