Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): The 47th General Session of Khiamniungan Students’ Union was held from January 10 to 12 at Peshu vuillage under the theme: “Expanding Horizons” with P Longon, minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Land Resource Development and S Heno, parliamentary secretary for Fishery, Printing & Stationary, Relief & Rehabilitation as the chief guest and guest of honour.
The chief guest and guest of honour challenged the students to leap forwards beyond our horizon with a competitive spirit and with a truthful heart and right perspective.
Pfukiya Kath, block development officer and sub divisional officer (civil) Thonoknyu attended the games and sports and the ethnic fashion show as the guests of honour.
The programme highlights included “Ethnic Fashion Night Competition”, where in the traditional round Thang and Tsuwao and in the modern wear rounds –Langshe and Naomi were announced as winners.
In the games and sports, volleyball (male & female) and a marathon race (male) was conducted wherein, the Wolam Nyukyan Students Union emerged as champions with Wolam Nyukeng Students Union as the first runners up in male category while Pathso Nokeng Students’ Union and the Kingnio Students’ Union were declared the champions and the first runners up in female category.
