Kohima, April 15 (MExN): The Khensa Students Union Kohima (KSUK) organised a three-day holistic camp on the theme ‘The Future of Work’ at Jubilee Memorial Centre, Kohima from April 7 to 9. The cam was sponsored by the Khensatsur Telongjem Kohima (Khensa Women Union Kohima).
The camp was a unique opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding and to develop the essential competencies, skills and knowledge necessary for success in their future careers. Through a series of interactive sessions and engaging activities, the students explored the challenges and opportunities of the ever-evolving job market, KSUK stated in a press release.
During the camp, four speakers covered various field of work during the specialised three hours session each. Neichute Doulo, Founder & CEO of Entrepreneurs Associates (EA), spoke on the value of social entrepreneurship, on changing mindsets and emphasised that Naga civilization lies in the villages and we need to start building our community from there.
Pursungit Pongen of YouthNet, Education department, spoke on the importance of soft skills and ability tests in the modern workplace, the importance of self-growth and to understand oneself beyond our educational degrees.
Dr Aoakhum Kichu, Consultant, Department of Radiation Oncology, Eden Medical Center, provided an in-depth overview on career opportunities in physical sciences, medicine, engineering and technology. He highlighted that career is an identity of ourself and to be aware of the job context of Nagaland.
Arep Tzudir, pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Church (KABA) spoke on honour and shame culture prevalent in the Naga society in relation to wealth, social status and careers. He highlighted the need for the younger generation to shift this mentality for a better future and encouraged service to mankind.
“The three-day camp provided a unique opportunity for students to build their personal competencies, gain practical insights and understand the skills necessary for navigating the rapidly changing world of work and also the importance of an open mind set in understanding the current employment scenario in Nagaland,” the release added.
