Zunheboto, January 29 (MExN): KT Sukhalu, IAS Retd, has declared his candidacy to run for the 35th A/C Zunheboto as NDPP candidate in the forthcoming assembly elections.
In this connection, a prayer ceremony to invoke blessings was held at Kawoto village ground, Zunheboto on January 27. More than four thousand supporters and well-wishers turned up for the ceremony, a press release from the Media Cell, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, Zunheboto Region claimed. GBs from 17 villages and 13 sectors, Zunheboto sadar of 35th A/C Zunheboto attended the programme, it added.
Many town and village elders, GBs, NDPP party workers and prominent citizens spoke during the service voicing the need for change and development in 35th A/C Zunheboto.
Sukhalu announced his intention to contest the forthcoming 13th Legislative Assembly to usher in all round development in Zunheboto town and in this regard, urged the gathering to vote for change and development.
He declared his willingness to serve the people, and represent all sections of the society by placing his faith in God, like he served the government for 32 years with dedication.
While lamenting the presence of many educated unemployed and the absence of infrastructural development leading to shortage of job opportunities, the former bureaucrat highlighted the need to create employment opportunities in private sector and not only the government sector.
He also stressed on the principles of his party to stand for transparency if elected by ensuring that all contract schemes should bear the name of the contractor, estimate of work amount, and project work definition for the common public to witness.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer service which was ministered by Khehoto, Associate Pastor, ZTSBC.
