KTSA 41st Sports Meet in Pfutsero commences

The 41st Sports Meet of the Kuzha Tephe Sports Association (KTSA) commenced at the Sports Complex Pfutsero under Phek district on January 20. The sports meet will conclude on January 23.

Dr Neisatuo Mero, MLA, 16th Pfutsero Assembly Constituency graced the inaugural programme as the special guest. In his speech, Dr Mero said Nagaland has a strong history in sports. He also highlighted the remarkable achievement of Paralympian Hokato Hotozhe Sema, taking him as an example of excellence, who was recently awarded the Arjuna Award. He stressed the importance of dedication, determination, and consistency, which are essential for every sportsperson. He also encouraged the community and leaders to support sportspersons who possess real talent and qualities. Dr Mero further emphasised the importance of peace and unity within the community, stating that these values depend on both society as a whole and individuals in particular.

He briefly highlighted the Naga political issue, urging the gathering to pray for the Nagas. He added that the present government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, is doing its best to achieve a peaceful and acceptable solution.

Weprenyi Khutso, OSD, Directorate of Technical Education Nagaland, Kohima, was the Guest of Honour for the occasion. The programme was led by Nyitso Therie, and a prayer was offered by Rev. Khroto Mero, Pastor of LBC. The presidential address was delivered by Lhiwepe Khutsoh. A special song was presented by Wetsote-ü Letro, and the oath was administered by Pute Kupa, Technical Secretary of KTSA. The teams will compete in football, basketball, volleyball, and badminton in both men’s and women’s categories.

Later, after the sports event, Dr Mero went for inspection of various developmental works at different villages under Pfutsero.  He was accompanied by EAC, executive engineer PWD Pfutsero Division, DBs and various other public leaders. During this, he had brief interactions with the people at the villages.
