KU reiterates ENPO resolution; issues directives  

Mon, Janaury 18 (MExN): With the Election Commission of India announcing the poll date for Nagaland, the Konyak Union on January 18 reiterated the ENPO August 26 resolution to abstain from participating in the upcoming elections and issued directives concerning the issue.  An emergency meeting of the KU on Wednesday has resolved and reiterated to remain steadfast and firm to the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) August 26 resolution for non-participation in elections until the Government of  India grants the demand for a “separate statehood befittingly,” the union stated in a press release.  The meeting further resolved that any individual filing nomination to participate in elections would be “permanently” expelled from the Konyak soil and the village of the person filing nomination would be held responsible, it said.  The KU has fully empowered the Konyak Nyupu Sheko Khong (KNSK), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) and Village the Councils to “fully implement and act upon the resolution,” it added.
