Nagaland BJYM President Hinoka Chophi during the opening day of the multi-sport event is organised by the Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association in Kuhuboto on November 6.

Kuhuboto, November 6 (MExN): The 16th Kukami Trophy (Men’s Football), the 5th I Vizheto Chophi Memorial Trophy (Men’s Volleyball), the 16th Lhosheli Neho Memorial Trophy (Women’s Volleyball), along with the 1st edition of the Japika Zhimomi Men’s Badminton Trophy and Vikheli P Muru Memorial Trophy (Women’s Badminton), officially kicked off today in Kuhuboto.
The multi-sport event is organised by the Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association (KGSA).
Gracing the opening ceremony as the chief guest, Nagaland’s Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Hinoka Chophi stressed the importance of sports in shaping young minds. He also highlighted the emerging talents from the area and acknowledged local players such as Homuka, Ito, Vinoka, and Puloka, who represented the state at the prestigious Subroto Cup.
“These achievements are living proof of what dedication, hard work, and vision can achieve,” Chophi stated. He also lauded Mughato Aye for his role in nurturing these young talents.
As part of BJYM’s ongoing commitment to youth development, Chophi called for greater collective action in supporting youth initiatives, whether through sports, education, or community service. He also advocated for youth engagement in sports as a positive alternative to substance abuse, noting that “Football, like life, requires discipline, patience, and resilience. It’s about building character and embracing teamwork.”
The President further called on the community to support youth initiatives, urging everyone to foster a healthier, stronger, and more united future, informed a press release from the Nagaland BJYM.
The oath-taking for the event was led by Hikato A Swu. The opening function also featured a presentation of a folk song by Kughato Ghami, a special performance by Inakali T Kiba, and a welcome note by Kahoto K Zhimo.
