Kuki Inpi Manipur extends total shutdown by 48 hours

DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on Tuesday announced the extension of the ongoing total shutdown for another 48 hours, effective from midnight of May 19. In a press statement issued by KIM Secretariat, the organisation stated that a joint meeting of Kuki Inpi and all District Civil Society Organisations resolved to continue the shutdown “in view of the continued inaction and failure of the Government to address the legitimate concerns and demands placed before it.” The statement further said the decision was also taken due to “the absence of any tangible positive development on the ground.” The KIM appealed to the public to “extend full cooperation and maintain peace and solidarity throughout the period of the shutdown.”
