Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): The ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur conducted a three-day on-campus training cum capacity-building programme on “Integrated Farming System: Enhancing Productivity and Sustainability” for tribal farmers of Dimapur district under the Tribal Sub Plan Project from March 5 to 7.

A press release received here stated that the programme commenced with an inaugural session, graced by Dr H Kalita, Head of the Regional Centre, ICAR Nagaland Centre, as a special guest. 

Over the course of three days, participants benefited from technical lectures, hands-on practical sessions, and field visits facilitated by resource persons from ICAR-KVK Dimapur and ICAR Nagaland Centre. These sessions mainly focused on various components of IFS like livestock, horticulture, seed production, bee keeping, mushroom, processing and its economic benefit.

The valedictory session was presided over by Bodevi Shuya, District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Chumukedima, as the chief guest. The participants shared great satisfaction and expressed enthusiasm to implement the new knowledge and skills in their farms. During the concluding session, certificates were distributed to all 25 participant farmers and resource persons in recognition of their successful completion of the training.

Inputs like watering cans and Assam lemon saplings were distributed to all the participant farmers to encourage practical implementation of the knowledge gained during the training.
