
Kiphire, June 4 (MExN): KVK Kiphire, ICAR for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre in collaboration with District Fishery Office and District Horticulture Office, Kiphire conducted a five-day training programme on ‘Integrated Farming System for Livelihood Security’ from May 30 to June 3 at training hall of DHO, Kiphire.
Nzanthung Yanthan, DFO (Fishery), Kiphire attended the training programme as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised on the importance of IFS where the system provides food and income security. He encouraged the farmer participants to adopt such technology at the same time asked the participants to take full advantage of the training program.
During the training the topics on ‘Feed management in pigs’ and ‘Disease management in pigs’ was discussed by Benjon, Sr VFA. ‘Package and practices of summer vegetables’ and ‘IPM in important vegetable crops’ was taken up by Senti Longchar, DHO Kiphire. Seroba, HEA, DHO office spoke on ‘Cultivation practices of maize for improved crop production’ while ‘Identification and management strategies of FAW’ was covered by Temjenna Jamir (SMS).
‘Management of stored grain pest in maize’ and ‘Utilization of maize for fodder and silage’ purpose was covered by Zekopeu, Agriculture Inspector, Kiphire; and ‘Integrated fish farming system for livelihood’ and ‘Composite fish farming system’ was taken up by Nzanthung Yanthan, DFO (Fishery) Kiphire.
The valedictory session for training programs was held on June 3 where Lirichum, Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies attended as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he acknowledged KVK, DHO and DFO for organising the much needed training programme for the farmers covering a variety of topics. He stated that there are many registered societies in Kiphire; however, there are only a few performing societies. Among these, he stated that Atsitsa Large Area MPCS Ltd is among the performing societies and urged the agri and allied departments to extend help in every way possible.
Certificate of participation was handed to all participants by the special guest including fingerlings sponsored by DFO (Fishery), Kiphire. The training programme was coordinated by Dr N Khumdemo Ezung, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Kiphire as Course Director and Temjenna Jamir as the Associate Course Director.
