KVK Longleng organises ‘My Village, My Pride’ programme

Longleng, February 17 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng organized awareness-cum-Kisan Gosti on Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (My Village, My Pride) at Mongtikang village of Longleng district on February 10.  

70 farmers participated in the daylong programme, which was graced by Z. Lohe, EAC, Longleng as chief guest. Lohe applauded the farmers for organizing the first Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav awareness programme in their village. He informed that KVK, Longleng has adopted Mongtikang and Lingtak village under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav among 40 villages of the district. Mongtikang is also adopted under National Mission for Sustaining Himalayan Ecosystems (NMSHE) Project. He appealed to the farmers to get full benefits of the scheme and cooperate with KVK Longleng in extending their technologies by adopting it in farmers’ field.

Dr. P. Chowdhury, SMS (SWCE) delivered the overview and explained the aims and objectives of Mera Gaon Mera Garav programme. He depicted a detailed picture on Per Drop More Crop (Water conservation and judicious use), Digital Agriculture (Kisan mobile advisory service), National Gokul Mission (Development and preservation of farmer’s bovine breeds), Blue Revolution (Revolution in fish farming), and National Agriculture Market (for providing better prices of farmers’ produce). He also explained the importance of soil sample collection, analysis and distribution of Soil Health Cards to each and every farmer.  

During the programme, piglets, farm implements (maize sheller, wheel hoe, adjustable row marker), Jalkund - Silpaulin PVC plastics, okra (Bhindi) seeds, neem oil, 2-4-D weedcides and water can were distributed to the farmers.
