Farmers partake in the training programme held at Luzheto village in Kuhoboto Block on September 3.
Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, conducted a Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme under the Cluster Frontline Demonstration (CFLD) on pulses at Luzheto village in Kuhoboto Block in collaboration with ATMA, Kuhoboto Block.
A total of 21 farmers participated in the programme.
The training focused on scientific cultivation practices for pulse crops, particularly rice bean and cowpea, with emphasis on improved production technologies, crop management and the importance of pulses in sustainable farming systems.
Rice bean and cowpea seeds were also distributed among the participating farmers to encourage the adoption of improved cultivation practices.
The programme was conducted by Dr Bendangla Imsong, CTO (Plant Breeding), KVK Dimapur.
Meanwhile, KVK Dimapur observed National Nutrition Week 2026 from September 1 to 7 at the KVK Conference Hall as part of Poshan Maah.
The programme focused on creating awareness among women farmers about the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy dietary practices.
Dr Chingakham Sima Chanu, SMS (Home Science), KVK Dimapur, interacted with women farmers and explained the importance of a balanced diet, adequate intake of essential nutrients, dietary diversity and healthy food choices for maintaining good health and well-being.
Discussions were held on the inclusion of locally available seasonal fruits and vegetables in diets. A demonstration of ‘Poshan Thali’ based on locally available seasonal foods was also conducted.
The demonstration emphasised portion control and its role in the management of health and disease.
Dr Chanu also explained the role of women in creating awareness among family members about healthy food choices and making informed decisions while preparing meals for the family.
