Khutsami Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Khutsami village, under Phek district with Nagaland CAWD & Taxes Advisor Kudecho Khamo as the special guest.

Addressing the celebration on December 16, Khamo said sports is a profession where winning one medal does not only bring recognition but also fame, wealth and employment opportunities, and exhorted athletes to take sports seriously. He stressed the importance of collective efforts in raising sportspersons.

He highlighted that the Nagaland government, along with the rest of the nation, is investing significantly in sports infrastructure and sportsperson development to push athletes to national and international levels under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio.

Pointing out Olympians from the state—footballer Dr T Ao, archer Chekrovolu Swuro and Paralympian Hotoka Hotozhe Sema—he said they had competed at the Olympic level and are an inspiration to many, adding that youth should take up sports as it is already one of the highest-earning professions.

He asked athletes to remain determined and committed through willpower and to pursue their goals with sincerity, emphasising the importance of skill development through training and coaching, speed and strength, alongside perseverance.

In the competitive world, he said, it requires and demands a lot from each individual, calling for commitment and sincerity to walk the extra mile and sweat the extra bucket.

Acknowledging infrastructure and developmental gaps in the Chozuba Assembly Constituency, he assured that he is committed to the all-round development of the constituency, which requires unity and cooperation from the public. He said that people need to be in tandem with the government for development.

Khamo also emphasised the need for judicious use of time as the festive season approaches, encouraging people to take time to strategise, set targets and plan for personal and family growth, which would ultimately impact societal growth.

He asserted that unity is the need of the hour in Naga society, while lamenting factionalism and divisions among churches and society, which he said is concerning.

Maintaining that, in the backdrop of such a prevailing situation, the opposition-less government formed under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s leadership and the recent merger of the majority NDPP legislators with the NPF party have shown the way, he called for efforts to end all divisions for unity and progress in Naga society.

Khamo commended Khutsami Village for its honesty and sincerity, calling it a trendsetter and a blessing for the community, and urged the village to continue upholding these values to nurture an upright generation.

He also acknowledged the vision and sacrifices of the pioneers and leaders of KVYO for laying a strong foundation for the present youth.

Nezosa Tetseo, President, Phek District Sports Association (PDSA), released the souvenir. In his speech, he said a jubilee is a time to retrospect and introspect, urging athletes to be more dedicated to sports and any vocation they choose to pursue.

Earlier, a welcome address was delivered by Thepukro Swuro, Village Council Chairman (VCC) while KVYO  president Kuyho Tetseo delivered presidential address.

Greetings was shared by Khokuto Sapuh, President, Sukruzu Area Sports Association (SASA) and the vote of thanks by Mukhayi Keyho, Head GB.

The formal programme was led by Mudotuzo Tetseo, Convenor, Jubilee Organising Committee.
