S. Toiho Yeptho, Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) and Chairman of the DPDB Zunheboto, held a consultative meeting with the College Management Authority at Zunheboto Government College on May 15.
Jekugha Sumi, Vice Principal of Zunheboto Government College, highlighted the shortage of Assistant Professors in the English, Geography, History and Political Science departments. “The college currently has 31 Assistant Professors handling 352 students, with more students expected to enroll. This increasing number of students is placing a strain on the existing faculty.” He also urged the need for immediate renovation of classrooms, which the college is in dire need of.
Vihuto Asumi, President of Sumi Hoho, expressed concern over the college functioning without a principal for a year now. He emphasized that this is the only Arts secular college in the entire Zunheboto district, and the absence of a Principal is severely affecting its administration.
S. Toiho stated that the main purpose of his visit was to assess how the only secular college in the district is functioning. He also addressed the issue of an Assistant Professor who has been transferred on attachment. He urged the College Management Board to provide the necessary documents to help resolve the attachment issue and urged the College Management Authority to prepare a proper proposal for submission to the next District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting.
