Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): The Land Owners/Pattadars of Dimapur whose lands are occupied by the army/military/para military has submitted a representation addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur with the appeal to immediately verify all the pockets of land under army occupation and take necessary action.
The Land Owners/Pattadars in the representation jointly signed by Chupfuo Angami, president and K Thing, secretary stated that this forum of land owners/pattadars have been standing by the directives of the government that no patta holder shall occupy land under army occupation until the land is officially handed over to and taken over by the State government. However, both the government and the army have failed to protect the land. As a result, private party(ies) have encroached the land such as block 7 and block 9.
The forum also stated that it has resolved at the last meeting to stand against allotment of pattas to non-Nagas not specified under the law. The forum has received complaint that land patta have been issued to non-Nagas. The forum has resolved to support genuine and original pattas and go against false pattas. The forum has also received complaint that more than one patta has been issued against a single plot of land.
