Landowners of Borjan Choto Lengri area inform

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): The ‘aggrieved landowners’ of Borjan Choto Lengri area of Karbi Anglong on Friday alleged that illegal encroachment and construction of structures have been going on in their jurisdiction despite repeated appeals to the administration to address the matter.

In a press release on Friday, the Media Cell of the Aggrieved Landowners Union, Choto Lengri, Karbi Anglong informed that a meeting was conducted on September 14 during a few resolutions were made on the matter. It was resolved that the ‘defaulters’ would be allowed to retrieve their properties and belongings from the said plot of lands within 10 days, failing which the aggrieved landowners would take its own course of action and shall not be held responsible for the consequences thereafter, the release stated. Any loss of properties owing to this dispute shall not be blamed on the aggrieved landowners, it added.

“For a cordial relationship to exist between the various communities in the neighbouring Borjan areas of Karbi Anglong, we earnestly request all the communities to respect each other’s rights and properties in future,” the release stated, while reminding the defaulters and the administration that “in the event of any unwanted situation arising out of the current mess, we would not be responsible of the same.”
