LASU rue plight of govt schools in Longmatra

Kiphire, May 21 (MExN): The epidemic afflicting government schools in Nagaland continues as number of student bodies highlights the plights with much concern.

In one such case, the Longmatra Area Students’ Union (LASU) has revealed about the depilating conditions of government schools within its jurisdiction. Longmatra is located in Kiphire district.

The LASU during its four day educational tour to all the government schools from May 9 to 12 held “rigorous co-ordination cum consultative meeting” in all the schools with the teaching staffs, VECs, village councils and unit presidents.

During its tour, LASU mentioned that the student leaders were briefed on the lack of teaching staffs in some schools. It stated that the Assistant Head Master for Government High School, Longmatra Town was yet to be posted. In the Government Primary Schools at Pongren Village, Sangtsoze Village, Longmatra Village, Longmatra Town Station- B, Ngoromi Village and Azetso Village, there is no Hindi Teacher. Meanwhile, Government Middle School, Sanphure Village has been imparting education to the students with no Mathematics teacher for the past 26 years and also lacks in general teacher.

In some cases like Government Primary School Longmatra Village, the school is survived by only two government teachers and two voluntary teachers of the same village. LASU, President, Roling K while appreciating the sacrifice of the two voluntary teachers appealed to the higher authority to look into the matter seriously and immediately post the teachers at the earliest.

The Union further learned that some teachers have been transferred and posted under Longmatra Area Schools Vide order No. ED/Rationalization-2/2017/63 dated Kohima, the 18th December, 2017 and is yet to give their joining reports. On this case, the Union urged the teachers concerned to join their respective posting places with immediate effect.

Further, LASU also appealed to all the teachers to do away with the attachment culture and to be detached immediately. Regarding the poor performance of the students, it has been learned that some of the teachers are very irregular in their teaching profession. Therefore, LASU urged the teachers to perform their assigned duties with sincerity and warned of action if not complied.
