Veritas and Lhomithi SC dominate opening matches
DIMAPUR, MARCH 3 (MExN): The third edition of the Late I. Pihoto Awomi Inter Club Champions Trophy began with a thrilling opening match as Veritas secured a commanding victory over Esa Veterans.
Batting first, Veritas set a challenging total of 170 for 6 in 20 overs, led by Joshua’s impressive 62 off 46 balls. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award. Despite disciplined bowling from Esa Veterans, with Jalal, Along, and Raja Kumar taking two wickets each, their batting lineup faltered. Veritas bowlers dominated the second innings, bundling out Esa Veterans for just 102 runs, sealing a comprehensive win.
In the second match, Lhomithi SC made a strong statement by posting 177 for 6 in their allotted overs. Contributions came from across the batting order, with Bidesi Nayak standing out for his 24 off 15 balls, one wicket, and two sharp catches, earning him the Man of the Match honor. Whiskers CC struggled in response, collapsing to 69 all out under Lhomithi SC’s disciplined bowling attack.
