Ambassador of Latvia to India, Artis Bertulis today expressed his desire to collaborate for promotion of culture, music and education in the state. In his maiden visit to Nagaland, Bertulis expressed happiness over the people’s concentration on its culture and preservation of heritage.


During his four day visit to Nagaland, he met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy and Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) advisor Theja Meru and others and discussed on possibility of working together especially in the field of choral music.


Talking to media persons here this morning at Hotel Vivor, he said that Latvia has a strong tradition of choral singing.


Bertulis and Chief Minister jointly released Coffee Table Book of Hornbill Music Festival 2019. Bertulis said that he would love to have musical representation of Nagaland to Europe by 2023 during song festival.


Talented musicians from Nagaland can also study for degree in our academy, he said.


In reciprocal, we also talked about our possible participation in the Hornbill festival of Nagaland, he said.


Also expressing happiness over visiting the State Museum, he said “I found similarity in the handicraft though we are 4000 miles away. This is one of the best museums I have been so far in India.”


Commenting on his visit to “Made in Nagaland” centre, Bertulis expressed happiness on the dynamism and social responsibility of Youthnet to work with the local entrepreneurs and to create jobs and employment, and opening windows for Nagaland products to be sold outside.


Bertulis said that discussion surrounded on different mechanism including the state’s participation in the international fairs.


He said that there are young and dynamic people who need to link to digital market.


After two day trip to the state capital Kohima, he left for Dimapur today. He will leave the state for Delhi tomorrow.


Later, Ambassador Artis attended Choral Concert this evening at Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima.


This concert is part of Nagaland leg of Choral Festival being conducted by Janos Ozols and Laura Jekabsone under the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of India in collaboration with Hope Centre for Excellence, Patkai Christian College & Associate Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM).


The next leg of Choral Festival will take touch Delhi & NCR, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
