The programme of Launching of Computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) Nagaland (a CSS program under the Ministry of Cooperation Government of India) organised by Department of Cooperation was held at CTC, Medziphema on March 14. The computerization of PACS Training on System Integration is organised by Satra Services & Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad.

Gracing as the guest of honour, Commissioner & Secretary to Government of Nagaland Cooperation Department, Zarenthung Ezung in his address said that the approval of the project for computerizing primary agricultural credit societies by the Government of India aims to bring all functional PACS into an ERP-based Common National Software.

Ezung emphasised that the implementation of the Common Accounting System and Management of Information System at the PACS level under the project would enhance governance and transparency, leading to the speedy achievement of goals, lower transaction costs, reduced imbalances in payments, seamless accounting, and increased efficiency in PACS operations among farmers. This, in turn, contributes to realizing the vision of “Sarakar Se Samrati,” which aims for effective strategies to establish a seamless and integrated cooperative movement free of challenges or obstacles, he added.

He also stated that the computerization of PACS will provide a comprehensive ERP solution for all prescribed economic activities, including financial services for short, medium, and long-term needs. This will enhance farmers' access to credit across different time frames. Additionally, the inclusion of various modules for different economic activities through PACS computerization will enable farmers to access these services directly at the PACS level.

Ezung added that Nagaland's progress in the computerization of PACS, stating that the state has commenced the process for 33 PACS in the first phase and has submitted a proposal for an additional 198 PACS in the second phase. He expressed hope that this phase would be completed by 2024 to 2025, contingent upon the performance and achievements of the initial 33 PACS. He also indicated that successful performance in the first phase would pave the way for implementing the second phase across the state.

He urged all PACS members to make full use of the opportunities that will be provided to them, which would contribute to enhancing societal activities and improving living conditions.

Furthermore, Ezung highlighted one of the significant challenges faced by financial institutions in Nagaland, pointing out that the prevailing attitude towards loan repayment is among the most pressing issues observed in the state.

During the programme, Satra Services & Solutions, Hyderabad, elucidated the Role of System Integrator (SI) to the participants. The event was chaired by Akangjongshi, Dy RCS, with keynote address by Bendangla Longkumer, Addl RCS while short speeches were given by representatives from NABARD, NStCB Ltd, and Zunpha MPCS Ltd. (PACS), followed by vote of thanks from John Lorin, SRCS.

In the subsequent session, various modules including Membership, Loans, Borrowings, Investment, Governance, Merchandise, Asset, FAS, and Audit were introduced to the participants. They were also provided with practical sessions on Computerization of PACS and Training on System Integration, which will continue until tomorrow.
