Zachitso Chizo as a student and as a retiree

A veteran politician and the first among the Phekmi Community to have become an Interim Body Member, Zachitso Chizo, who passed away on January 21, 2012 at his Phek residence, was honoured by various frontal organization(s) from the Phekmi community.
Talking to the Morung Express, the family members said that Chizo had served the tribal community and the Nagas on different capacities during his lifetime with sincerity, honesty and dedication and was further reported to be a tribal students’ chief and subsequently became an Interim Body Member (IBM) in 1962.
Chizo was born to Muthanu Chizo and Vekhuku Chizo in December 1926 at Phek Village. He started his schooling in 1941 and completed his tenth standard in 1953. He had served as the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) President from 1961-1962.
After retiring from the IBM, he served in the Gram Sewak at several capacities and was reported to have been promoted up to the level of Inspector. After a couple of years, he contested in the state general elections in 1969. After serving the community on several capacities for around 22 years and after retiring from active politics, he was inducted as (GB) of Phek Village from 1991 and served in that position till 2011. He was later inducted as secretary for the Village Development Board from 1998-2002.
The Phekmi Collegiate Forum (PCF), Phek Village Council (PVC), Phek Students’ Union (PSU), Phek Village Youth Society (PVYS), Phek Village Mothers’ Association (PVMA) and the two church denominations have issued their condolence over the demise of Chizo.
