Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): Unanimously reaffirming its commitment for affiliation of schools from the four hill districts of Manipur to the Nagaland Board of School Education, the Naga Students’ Federation has asked the Nagaland Government to pass legislation in this regard. The Federation said that affiliation and employment opportunities are two totally different matters, and on this called for support from all sections of the Nagas. The affirmation over the issue was made at the NSF’s 2nd Federal Assembly held at Sakaraba, NSF said.
“The Federation sincerely opined that the Government of Nagaland pass Legislation to expand the educational working areas by creating a space for any outside educational Institute to register under it as the NBSE is regarded as one of the reputed boards in the country in terms of its standard” stated the NSF in a release. The Federation also expressed cognizance of the apprehension at various quarters, “which is irrelevant.” Seeking of affiliation into the NSBE will in no way affect the employment opportunities in Nagaland and also the Post Metric Scholarship Scheme (PMSC), it asserted.
“Each State Government has its own state service recruiting policy to determine the employment as such students enrolled in any educational institution does not guaranteed employment of that state. The PMSC is awarded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs of the Government of India after proper scrutiny of the relevant particulars like Indigenous certificate of the Students” the Federation explained. Further, in regard to ‘job opportunities,’ the Federation made it clear that affiliation and employment opportunity are two separate matters which will never get mixed at all.
“Therefore the NSF fervently appeal to all concern Nagas to support the ultimate call in the interest of the innocent students’ who had committed to get registered and study the syllabus of NBSE with great enthusiasm and vision” it stated.
The NSF after proper examination of the issue, resolved to take the matter to the Nagaland State Government to consider the exigent case by affiliating the students of the Hills students into the fold of NBSE. The process of seeking affiliation began way back 2006 after the Meiteis imposed its Script (Meitei Mayek) as compulsory subject in the hills’ schools. “The Nagas students’ opposed the imposition tooth to nail and demonstrated it’s objectionable through various democratic means and urge the Nagaland Government to accommodate the students whose career were at stake” NSF added.
