If time could resolve or power could dissolve; if money could speak and wealth could save, Nagas must have got something – either to flourish or to perish. I wish the fate of Nagas had decided years back under one of these factors. The issue of the Nagas has gained a pretty good time which is now more than half a century but sadly not by this nor by that could resolve. Then, what is the reason that hinders us? Should we not consider once and correct ourselves?
Our hindrances are many and due to be considered by remembering the words of God. As in the book of Haggai, the people toiled and strived to satisfy themselves but always found wanting. While so, God sent His prophet Haggai and spoke, “Consider your ways”. In so manner, now Nagas, let us consider our ways- what and where have we gone wrong? Are we pacing in the right track? Have not we made our own brothers shed blood? Have not we gone against our leaders whom God and Man approved? Have not we divided among ourselves for the sake of leadership? Have not we become worshippers of wealth, power and pleasure? If God asked these questions, what do we answer now? If we are to stand up for Nagaland, should we not shackle off the lives of our wills and live God’s will? Nagaland is not a creation of man by power nor by intellect but it is a unique creation of God to testify His wonder among Nations and no nation shall stand against God’s Nation for Nagaland is for Christ and Christ is for Nagaland. Christ is the author of Naga history and so shall no men claim or deny. God is calling the Naga people to turn back and rely on Him and to seek his kingdom first as said in Matt. 6:33. His only plan upon the Nagas is to redeem and refine and establish His Nation.
Let us briefly look back the history of Nagas which is created by God, and realise and understand the will of God. In 1872 the good News of the living God was brought to Nagaland by the American Baptist missionary through Rev. Dr. Clark. The word of God says,”I had set my foot on Naga soil in 1817 [it meant, from Assam, American missionaries visited some Kongyak villages in 1817]. I have chosen this Nation for my own glory and I had anointed this land in 1872 [it meant Rev. Dr. Clark entered into Ao village called Malungkimung in1872]. By my spirit I even declared ‘Nagaland for Christ’. I will make a new Nagaland and in that I will be the Head in everything. The new Nagaland will be like Israel”. “I have chosen the Naga people by myself. I have given them Their Kingdom. I will never deceive you nor forsake you if you obey me, my words will be fulfilled. I will truly take you to your land”. “I need Nagas and their land to make it the world’s Peace Centre and to send Ten Thousand Missionaries to the world to preach my Gospel and Nagaland for Christ”.
Let us be true to ourselves and sacrifice our pleasures only then we can see the change that we dream. There are four ways to live our life right. The highest purpose of LIFE is to live for God, and for nation, society and lastly comes our “self”. Ignoring these, our nation, society and life will always found wanting in Values and this will indeed destroy our identity at last. Let us not live as an opportunist who shifts one’s principle with the coming of chances. God will surely accomplish His words for the Nagas. May the good Lord speak to all the readers, Kuknalim.
