Recalling that his connection with Nagaland state goes a long way back, Padma Bhushan & Grammy Award Winner, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on Monday evening stated that he was deeply impressed with the rich musical talent of Nagaland. In this regard, he also commended the quality of music that Naga talents produce.
He was performing at the 7th Raj Bhavan Edition of the Rattle and Hum Music Handshake Concert at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima on December 5 wherein he also urged the audience to “pledge to take Naga music all over the world and show what we have.” He also acknowledged the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio who has supported the movement and also apprised the Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan of the musical talent that the state has.

Besides other performances by the Grammy Award Winner, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt & Nagaland Ensemble also performed. Other performers of the 7th Raj Bhavan Edition included Kewhira Strings and Nagaland Aeterna Singers.

Earlier, in his welcome note, Abu Metha, who is also the Advisor for the Rattle & Hum Music Society, remarked that the Handshake Concert has taken artistes and cultural ambassadors from Nagaland to different corners of the world and stated that the aspiration of the Rattle and Hum Music Society is to create better appreciation for India, its culture and impression in the global community and also increase platforms for artistes from across the country to get national and international performances.

He also said that many of those who have performed in the Handshake Concert have gone on to achieve great things in life and further exuded hope that they will continue to do our people proud and our nation proud.
Mention may be made here that the Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan was the chief host of the Handshake Concert while Anshuman Singhania, Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. was the chief guest and Dr Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and G. Ramesh, Executive Director of Indian Oil Corp. Limited were the honoured guests. Among dignitaries who attended the concert included the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio.
