
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): In a significant event coinciding with Nagaland’s cleanliness drive, Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) hosted renowned cyclist Vanlallawmzuala Varte, popularly known as LZ Varte, during the final leg of his All India Cycling Tour.
Varte, hailing from Mizoram, is on a mission to raise awareness about the importance of clean air and sustainable living as he completes an ambitious journey covering 28 states and 5 Union Territories, a press release issued by Information Desk, LFI informed.
The campaign, titled “Ride to Clean Air - All India Cycling Tour for Awareness Campaign on Clean and Green Sustainable Lifestyle,” is backed by the Mizoram State Pollution Control Board. Varte has been on the road for nine months, cycling approximately 17,000 kilometers to promote his message.
Upon his arrival at LFI, Varte was warmly welcomed by the school’s management, faculty, staff, and students. In a brief interaction session, LFI Chairman Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema praised Varte as a “braveheart” for undertaking such a challenging expedition away from his family for a noble cause. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from Varte’s journey and to take proactive steps in reducing pollution.
The school’s Director, Ani Yepthomi, later honored Varte with a token of appreciation. As a lasting tribute to his visit, Varte planted a tree sapling on the campus.
During his address, Varte shared insights about India’s diverse geography and the challenges he faced, including traversing the highest motorable road in the country, Umling La, located at 19,300 feet in Ladakh. He expressed his goal of setting an All India Record for cycling across the 28 states and 5 Union Territories in the shortest time possible.
Encouraging the students, Varte emphasized that with determination and discipline, achieving the seemingly impossible is within reach. His visit left a profound impact on the students, inspiring them to embrace environmental stewardship.
